When a classroom teacher noticed many of her students coming back to school on Monday not there usual energized and eager little growing bodies, the teacher realized the cause of this and could not believe it:  Hunger.

During the week, schools offer school breakfast and lunch meals as well as provide snacks during the day for the students to eat, however when the students go home for the weekend, their families are struggling to keep their bellies full.

The classroom teacher became focused and wanted to find a solution.  With the help of their school and partnering with Blair Road United Methodist Church, Bookbags of Love was established in 2009. 

For the 2009 school year, Bookbags of Love was able to deliver bookbags of food every Friday so the students in need (and their families) have enough food for the entire weekend.  Bookbags of Love had so much success (and gratitude from the teachers, students, and families), they continued to deliver food over the summer.  Bookbags of Love is continuing to grow and with your prayers and donations, booksbags of love will be able to keep all children's hungry bellies full - one bookbag at a time.
